Guardian Village Picture Frames:
Guardian Village makes these picture frames with the Bible verses exclusively for Faithware. The picture frames and paper verse inserts are made from Lokta Paper. According to information gathered from the Nepal Handmade Paper Assoc. "Lokta paper, popularly known as rice paper, is hand made from the inner bark of the Lokta plant. These shrubs are found only in the high mountain forests of Nepal between the altitudes of 6500 ft and 9500 ft. This handmade paper is strong and durable, insect and water resistant and has a rough natural look. The process used to produce lokta paper is the most ancient method of paper making dating back more than a thousand years. After cutting and stripping the lokta bark, it is sorted by thickness and dried in the sun. The bark is then cooked and washed and cooked again. Following the second cooking and final washing, the softened bark is hand beaten into a pulp. The pulp is poured into frames and floated in a pond of water. Once the pulp is leveled out to a flat surface, the frame is moved to dry ground where it is sun dried. Once dried, the paper is carefully removed from the frame and stored until it is dyed and eventually made into quality handicraft products."
